Weingut Silas Hörler Chardonnay Valäris Maienfeld, Graubünden – 2023

This excellent quality single vineyard lies on slate soils at the foot of the Fläscher Halde.
Year after year, the slow-growing vines produce grapes with a high level of aroma. These are gently pressed whole, and the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation in French barriques. Once this is complete, the wine remains on its full lees for a further 10 months.
The result is a Chardonnay in a Burgundian style: elegant, with a lot of finesse, racy acidity and a nice saltiness.
