Textura da Estrela Vinho Tinto Dao DOC – 2020

The Dao is a small, classic wine region situated in the granitic mountains of north-central Portugal, to the south of the Douro Valley, but considerably cooler in climate due to its higher altitude.  

Textura Wines is a family project started in 2018 in the Dao on the slopes of the Serra da Estrela mountain range. Here the soils are of pure granite, with granitic sand on top, giving the wines noticeable freshness and acidity.

Owners Marcelo and his wife Patricia are originally from Brazil, but were attracted by the enormous potential of this wine region to produce wines with a unique character which express the minerality of their granite soils. They now own 28 hectares of vineyards and have grown their grapes organically since 2020.

Textura Da Estrela Red  is a blend of 40% Jaen, 30% Touriga Nacional and 30% Alfrocheiro from 25-60 year old vines on granitic soils at 500m altitude.

This refined, medium bodied red wine has a mineral, earthy character with flavours of ripe red cherries, herbs, pine needles and light peppery notes. The tannins are smooth and velvet-textured, the acidity slightly salty and refreshing.  A distinctive and elegant red. 12.9% alcohol.
