Felton Road Cornish Point Pinot Noir – 2023

Felton Road is one of the world’s most southerly wine producers, located in the Central Otago region of New Zealand’s south island. The winery was founded in 1991 and has been certified  biodynamic since 2002.

“Layered, heady perfume of roses, wild berries and cinnamon bloom on this complex, arrestingly aromatic pinot. Densely concentrated and compact flavours of blackberry coulis and baking spice soak the entire palate in vibrant primary fruit. Submerged cocoa-tinged tannins make an appearance after a fashion. Impressive and intense yet effortless, this is very young, and already so delicious right now, but it will be vastly better with a bit of time in the cellar to gain more complexity.” 96/100pts The Real Review

“Floral and fragrant aromas of strawberries, hibiscus, cinnamon bark and plums. The palate is medium-bodied with finely integrated tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of raspberries, chalk, dark cherries and spices. “The vivacious fruit and spices are present as always, but are perhaps lighter in tone and more exotic. The palate has a savoury tone, which sits surprisingly well with the usual Cornish Point indulgences: luxurious fruit and exotic woods like Sandalwood, even Lebanon Cedar. The tannins are beautifully balanced
and integrated, ever present, but never interfering; just contributing to the overall stature.” Blair Walter, winemaker
