|When to drink|
This Chianti Classico Riserva comes from 100% Sangiovese grapes from the best plots of vines in the estate. It is aged for 24-36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, then in bottle for a further 2 years before release onto the market.
This is without doubt one of my most memorable wines of 2020! It has amazing complexity of wild cherry, spice, and forest floor flavours and a lightness and elegance which is almost Burgundian. Still firmly structured and with unmistakable Sangiovese tannins and acidity, it is at its peak now and will continue to drink perfectly until at least 2025! Tasted May 2020. Around 1250 cases were produced.
“Healthy crimson. Really excellent subtlety. The most subtle wine of the tasting? Beautiful integration. So composed and fresh and very Chianti Classico but this is so ready to drink! Long and appetising. Bravissima!” 18/20pts Jancis Robinson MW
“The 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva is fabulous. Powerful and classically austere, the 2010 oozes with class. A host of black cherry, plum, licorice, sage and lavender overtones develop with time in a complex wine that is going to need quite a few years to be at its best. The 2010 Riserva will thrill readers who appreciate firm, structured wines built for cellaring.” 93+/100pts Vinous
