Chiappini Guado De Gemoli Bolgheri Rosso Superiore DOC – 2019

The Chiappini family are truly one of the Bolgheri region’s best kept secrets! They are a small, family wine business, 100% organic, producing top quality red and white wines at a fraction of the price of some of their more illustrious neighbours. The location of their vineyards is impeccable: directly next to Ornellaia and opposite Le Macchiole!

They are gradually planting more and more Cabernet Franc vines opn their estate as they believe this grape will play a vital role in Bolgheri’s future.

Their 2019 “Guado” has 30% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot from their oldest vineyards and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is full bodied, dense and powerful but with wonderful elegance and freshness from the perfect 2019 vintage. The flavours roll across the mouth, tannins are silky smooth and the finish extremely long. A sumptuous red! 

“The Chiappini 2019 Bolgheri Superiore Guado de’ Gemoli shows beautifully now but promises more good things in five to 10 years. The wine reveals an inky garnet color with thick aromas of dark fruit, plum, road tar and spice. Those smoky tarry notes fit into the wine’s thick texture and its firm structure.
