Chateau Pitray Cotes De Castillon, Bordeaux – 2021

This beautiful chateau is the oldest family-owned wine property in Bordeaux, owned by the De Boigne family since 1453!  It is situated 9kms east of the town of St.Emilion on the same limestone and clay plateau, which is perfect for growing top quality Merlot grapes as it gives the wines freshness, elegance and fruitiness.

Nina Mitjaville, daughter of Francois Mitjaville of Chateau Tertre Roteboeuf, has been the winemaker here since 2020 and has completely changed the style of the wines so that they speak much more of their terroir.

This 100% Merlot from 32 year old vines has aromas of blackcurrant and ripe blackberries. These black fruit flavours continue on the palate, which is smooth and silky, fresh and elegant. A real success for the difficult 2021 vintage in Bordeaux.
