“Even with an S.G.N. being selected-out from this site, Zind-Humbrecht’s 2008 Gewurztraminer Hengst is still an ennobled sweet wine, albeit with “only” 47 grams of residual sugar. Candied citrus rind, banana, caraway, and celery seed compose a most intriguing – some might argue bifurcated – nose. In the mouth, too, this offers a cooling herbal and chalky side while at the same time practically gaudy confitured and tropical flavors. Texturally caressing, yet invigorating and positively refreshing thanks to citric and saline finishing notes, it should prove to be a profound Hengst worthy of two decades’ attention.” The Wine Advocate
