Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Calcaire – 2012

Off dry, fruity and very easy to drink, yet with excellent potential to develop in bottle. The lychee and spice fruit tastes beautifully ripe and the finish is long.

“White golden color, the 2012 Gewürztraminer Calcaire is a blend of younger vines from the Hengst Grand Cru and the vineyard closed to the Goldert Grand Cru. Both vineyards have the deep marl soils in common and a slow ripening of the grapes, which come from 33-year-old vines (average) that kept their acidity until the end. The wine was bottled in August 2013 and offers a very mineral, powerful and fruit-driven character with a quite well hidden sweetness of 31 grams per liter, which amplifies the elegance and balance in this accessible, stimulatingly salty and well structured wine.”
