|When to drink|
This Rioja Crianza comes from one of Lopez de Heredia’s three single vineyards in the Rioja Alta region just outside Haro. It was aged for 3 years in barrel and 5 years in bottle pre-release, making it older than the majority of Gran Reserva Riojas you will find on the market! It is fully mature and drinking very nicely now (2022-2025).
“The 2014 Viña Cubillo Tinto Crianza is a textbook vintage with some aromatic development, notes of fresh blood and some grainy tannins, perhaps less polished than previous vintages, lively and concentrated, a bit harsh. 2014 was a very rainy vintage. This is usually a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacho and 5% each Graciano and Mazuelo matured in well-seasoned, neutral American oak barrels for three years. 150,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2020.” 92pts The Wine Advocate
