Sugrue The Trouble With Dreams Sparkling Wine, Sussex, England – 2022

60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir. 30% was fermented in 500-litre ex-burgundy barrels. 36 months on lees. Dosage 6 g/l.

The fruit for Sugrue’s flagship sparkling wine was sourced from two estate-owned vineyards planted on chalk, clay and green sand;  Mount Harry and Storrington Priory. This wine comes from fruit grown in the very warm and sunny 2022 vintage. While delicious to drink now, it has brilliant cellaring potential for the next decade or more.

This is a unique, dry, bracing, super-fine sparkling wine with immense ageing potential. It has intense, racy acidity and generous, opulent, ripe apple fruit flavours.  The finish is long and biscuity. Top champagne meets the best of England!
