Pascal Clement St Aubin 1er Cru Charmois – 2020

This is another delicious white Burgundy made by the former winemaker at Coche Dury in Meursault, one of Burgundy’s cult domaines! This is dry and fresh with bright, lively acidity and finely integrated stone fruit and oatmeal flavours. Perfect with smoked fish! 

The village of St Aubin is situated between Chassagne and Puligny in the heart of the most famous Chardonnay growing region in the world. This excellent example has a combination of white flower, flint, green almond and orange blossom flavours. With a little more age, it will develop richer notes of beeswax and honey, almond paste, amber and cinnamon…a real superstar!

THE TERROIR

White soils of clay with a high limestone content for the white wines. The slopes are sometimes steep, oriented East or South-East. The altitude varies between 300 and 350 metres.

Its nobility and distinction come from a subtle balance between an elegant freshness and a luscious richness, without excess, giving it a very smooth mouthfeel. With its personality, it is the perfect complement for firm fish, or steamed or grilled shellfish. It also goes well with poultry fillets with a firm texture. Serve at: 12 – 14°C.
