Langoa Barton OWC-6 St Julien AC – 2016

Chateau Langoa Barton  is one of the very few Classified Growths of the Medoc still under family ownership, now under the careful stewardship of the charming and talented Liliane Barton. It is always one of the great value buys from Saint Julien and is a fantastic ambassador for this appellation.

I tasted the 2016 when visiting the chateau in April 2023 and it was an absolute star which is just entering its optimum drinking period. It is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc with real depth of dark fruit, tobacco and spice flavours. The tannins are perfectly ripe and velvet smooth, and beautifully balanced by the fresh acidity typical of the great Bordeaux 2016 vintage. This is a perfect claret for enjoying this Christmas or over the next ten! Highly recommended.
