Felton Road’s excellent Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2018 came 14th in the Wine Spectator Top 100 wines of 2020 and was awarded 95pts. Announced in December 2020.
“Characteristic floral, cherry and spice aromas abound from the glass on first approach. The fruit from our four vineyards (Elms, MacMuir, Calvert and Cornish Point) delivers appealing diversity of aroma and flavour, along with multiple layers and textures. The deeply textural mouthfeel is silken and already charmingly approachable: partly due to the warm 2018 season, but also highly typical of the Felton Road house style.” Blair Walter – chief winemaker
“The 2018 Pinot Noir is a terrific introduction to the Felton Road style, and it’s a fine representation of the Bannockburn subregion. It offers up attractive sous-bois/mushroomy notes backed by plenty of red berries and hints of thyme and tea leaves. Medium-bodied, supple and fleshy on the palate, it finishes with ample verve and length, despite 2018 having been a year of record warmth.” 92/100pts The Wine Advocate
