Fabre Montmayou Grand Vin Mendoza – 2012
CHF 40.00
This is a blend of mainly Malbec – from a very old vineyard in Mendoza planted in 1908 – with a little Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The wine is then aged 16-18 months in French barriques to produce a seriously complex and classy red.
There are many very good Malbecs from Mendoza, but few which have the freshness and elegance of this producer. But then the owner, Herve Fabre, does originate from Bordeaux, so maybe it’s this touch of classic French flair which makes this wine so drinkable…
