Biodynamic-certified Clos Bellane are situated at 400mts altitude above the village of Valréas in France’s Southern Rhone region. The vines are cooled by a constant breeze which help give the wines unusual freshness and purity for this warm region.
Made from 100% old vine Grenache and certified biodynamic. This was barrel fermented then matured for 3 months on its lees in a mix of new and 1 year old French oak barrels.
It’s dry, with a delicious range of wild strawberry and raspberry fruit flavours, some floral notes and a hint of honeyed beeswax. In this vintage Clos Bellane did not produce their flagship rosé, so all the fruit from their best vineyards was “downgraded” to this wine. It tastes just as good as the top wine to me and at a very reasonable price!
Serve as an apero or with salads, peppers, marinated courgettes and eggplant. Also a nice surprise with a compote of strawberries or peaches.
