Biodynamic-certified Clos Bellane are situated at 400mts altitude above the village of Valréas in France’s Southern Rhone region. The vines are cooled by a constant breeze which help give the wines unusual freshness and purity for this warm region.
2021 was an excellent, slightly cooler vintage in the southern Rhone. This blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre from old vines planted on limestone soils has beguiling aromas of ripe fruit, violets, herbs and spice. On the palate it is hedonistic and plush but with characteristic “Clos Bellane” purity and elegance. The wine was made naturally, using indigenous (natural) yeasts, minimal Suplhur dioxide additions and no filtration, to give a completely pure and unadulterated expression of this unique vineyard.
