Fabre Montmayou – Mendoza and Patagonia
Hervé Joyaux Fabre is a Frenchman, born and bred in Bordeaux. In the early 1990s he moved to Mendoza, Argentina with his German wife Diane and purchased some very special old Malbec vineyards planted in 1908. Once his Mendoza winery was operating smoothly, he then scoured Patagonia for interesting plots of vines, and after much searching purchased a plot of vines in the Rio Negro area.
20+years later he is now making a delicious set of wines which combine Bordeaux-style elegance and freshness with Argentinian fruit, richness and power. His Cabernet Franc from Mendoza and Malbec from Patagonia win major awards every year and are 2 of the best value reds in our range. His “Grand Vin” from his ancient plot of vines in Mendoza is hugely concentrated and complex, with the capacity to develop in bottle over 8-10 years.
