Domaine Louis Claude Desvignes, Morgon, Beaujolais

This excellent family run domaine, situated in the town of Villié-Morgon in the heart of the Morgon Appellation, makes some of the densest, most concentrated and ageworthy Gamays you will find. Brother and sister team Louis-Benoit and Claude-Emmanuelle Desvignes are the 8th generation of their family to look after the vines and winemaking here and the quality of their wines is top notch!

What makes these wines so special are the wonderful old vines the family owns in the best quality subzone of Morgon – Cote du Py. Their Cuvée Javernières and Les Impénitents come from vines over 80 years old and are regularly awarded 95 points or more by Wine Advocate; not bad for very reasonably priced Beaujolais!

We recommend you age these wines a little longer than you would most other Beaujolais. They have serious structure and enough fruit concentration to develop beautifully in bottle over 5-10 years+
