Clos Bellane – Valréas, Southern Rhone

This excellent biodynamic producer based near Valréas in the far north of the Southern Rhone wine region make wines which combine the freshness and elegance of the Northern Rhone with the warmth, lavender and spice typical of the south.

Their 48 hectares of vines are situated at 400mts altitude (which is high for this region) on very stony, limestone soils. They have wonderful views south towards Mont Ventoux and Les Dentelles de Montmirail, the famous set of craggy peaks running through the southern Rhone wine region.

Clos Bellane make some of the most impressive, complex and aromatic white wines in the Rhone region from Marsanne, Viognier and Roussanne. Their reds – from old vine Grenache and some Syrah – are silky, crystal-pure and elegant. And their Rosé is one of the most impressive, structured and flavour-.packed Rosés you will find anywhere in France!
