Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino Riserva in magnum – 2019

This small but very fine Brunello producer is ideally situated, with vines just below those of Biondi Santi in the southeast of Montalcino, as well as a small vineyard (Le Chiuse)of Sangiovese vines planted in 1947 to the north of the town.
Their Brunello Riserva is only released in great vintages, and 2019 was a perfect growing season in Tuscany. It is made from the estate’s finest, organically grown Sangiovese grapes. The wine was matured in large old Slavonian oak casks for 34 months followed by a further 2 years in bottle before release for sale.

The wine is expertly played out with hydrated tannins, bold fruit flavors and a long finish. This epic wine follows in the footsteps of the 2016 vintage, probably the best ever in my view.
