This is usually Eric Janin’s most important wine, but in 2017 terrible hail destroyed 80% of his crop in one short, destructive blast. As a result these 40-70 year old vines were again only able to yield tiny crops (10hl/ha) of wonderfully fine and intense Gamay juice in this vintage. The wine is fresh, fruity and racy, with vitality, beautiful balance and granitic minerality on the finish. Such a shame there is not more of it!
