This Chardonnay comes from Villa Maria’s best quality single vineyard in Marlborough. Gentle, oak-given flavours of nut and brioche combine with lemon and grapefruit to give an impressively complex wine for the price. The finish is long and has a real bite of stony minerality from this stony vineyard which used to be an old riverbed. The 2016 vintage was awarded 18pts and “Best Buy” in Vinum Magazine’s July/August 2020 edition.
