The organic-certified Terenzuola family winery produce delicious Vermentino-based white and red wines in the Colli di Luni wine region on the border of Tuscany and Liguria, about 5kms from the Mediterranean Sea just south of the Cinque Terre. These are wines of freshness and elegance which have a surprisingly capacity to develop in complexity over several years in bottle.
This Vermentino Nero is a red wine – pale cherry red in colour, and light and fruity in style. It has surprising richness of red cherry fruit flavours with punchy acidity and silky smooth tannins. It would be ideal drunk slightly chilled as a summer apero or with fish or white meat dishes.
“Smells of peonies. Feisty, laser-cut marasca-cherry fruit like a slash of scarlet across slim, vertical, mineral-shiny tannins. A hush of liquorice, caraway and tobacco-leaf spice. Vibrating with high-wire energy. ” 17.5/20pts Tamlyn Currin for Jancisrobinson.com
