Kalleske Old Vine Grenache Barossa Valley – 2023

This Old Vine Grenache is made from a single vineyard planted in 1935 as bush vines on the Kalleske farm. The vineyard soil is shallow sand with light clay subsoil and the grapes are entirely dry-grown ensuring intensely flavoured fruit.
The aromatics are vivid with lifted notes of sweet spice, musk, raspberry jam, flower garden, dried fruit medley, and a trace of choc mint.
On the palate it is richly flavoured and generous with varietal red, blue and black fruits all evident. Naturally soft tannins support the plush fruit, adding a pleasant chewiness without feeling intrusive. Seasoned oak maturation adds notes of coconut and spice to the old vine, dark fruit intensity. Extremely lengthy on the finish, the varietal purity is almost endless! Harmonious throughout, this is a fantastic example of Barossa Grenache.
