Fromm Pinot Noir Selvenen Malans – 2021

The 2021 vintage was a tricky one throughout Switzerland, but the village of Malans was protected from widespread frost damage in April by its surrounding mountains and unique microclimate. An extremely wet July was then saved by a beautiful, long and sunny Alpine Autumn, so that Georg’s 2021 wines have beautiful fruit purity, freshness and minerality.
The Selvenen vineyard is now 25 years old and contains a mix of 50% Burgundian and 50% Swiss clones of Pinot Noir. The wine has very gentle red cherry fruit flavours with some creamy oak texture and mid palate weight. It is fresh, elegant and restrained and needs 2-3 more years in bottle to start opening up propery. Fine quality as always from this vineyard.
