Fromm Merlot Malans – 2022

This Merlot comes from Georg Fromm’s Schöpfi vineyard.

Dark cherry red colour. The nose exudes deep, dark fruit and spice together with blackberry, prune, clove, cocoa and coconut.

On the palate, this feels dense and full bodied.  It has juicy acidity and elegant tannins with good grip. A very long-lasting, complex finish with dark fruit, vanilla and mountain herbs.

“Based on 40+-year-old vines planted by the wall in the warmest part of the Clos Schöpfi and aged in American oak barrels, the 2022 Malanser Merlot is dark in color and flavors, which are intense and fleshy yet elegant, fresh and rather coolish on the nose, with ripe cherry and blackcurrant aromas intermingled with toasty notes and Cuban cigars. Silky, lush and vital on the mouth-filling palate, this is a supple, concentrated, fresh and juicy, rather athletic Merlot with ripe and spicy, finely polished tannins. 14% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Dunkle kirschrote Farbe. Die Nase versprüht eine tiefe, dunkle Frucht und Würze. Brombeere, Dörrpflaume, Nelke, Kakao und Kokos. Im Gaumen werden die Geschmacksknospen umhüllt von einem dichten, schweren Körper mit südländischer Extraktsüsse. Es folgt eine saftige Säure und elegantes Tannin mit gutem Grip. Ein sehr langanhaltender, komplexer Abgang mit dunkler Frucht, Vanille und Bergkräutern
