Capbern is the second wine of the excellent Chateau Calon Segur in St Estephe. It is consistently one of the best second wines in Bordeaux and has the finesse, elegance and minerality of a wine twice its price. St Estephe always perfoms fantastically in hot, dry summers such as 2020 due to its clay subsoils which retain water. This is a truly impressive, fruit-concentrated, silky-tannined example, a great combination of freshness and power. Delicious!
“The 2020 Capbern offers up aromas of sweet cassis, plums, pencil shavings, loamy soil and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and seamless palate that’s polished, penetrating and dynamic.
