Sugrue Cuvee Boz Blanc De Blancs Sparkling Wine, Sussex, England – 2019

100% Chardonnay from Sugrue’s Jenkin Place vineyard on sandstone soil. This spent 72 months on its lees during second fermentation and was bottled with 8 g/l dosage.

Made only in the best vintages and crafted with long cellar-ageing in mind, Cuvée Boz Blanc de Blancs is Sugrue’s ultimate expression of pure Chardonnay on chalk.  2019 was a year with intermittent spells of warmth and sunshine and cooler, wetter weather.

Wow! Fine, tightly wound, salty acidity. Wonderful purity of citrus, apple and biscuit flavours alongside stony minerals. Amazing finesse and complexity.  England meets top Champagne! This would be perfect with oysters or sushi.
