Domaine Marc Tempe Pinot Gris Am Zelle – 2021

This Pinot Gris comes from several plots of vines planted on clay and limestone soils around the picturesque village of Zellenberg. Certified biodynamic.

Pale yellow in colour with hints of gold. Dry, fresh and fruity with gentle tropical fruit, mango and lime flavours combined with spice and quince. Medium bodied with good weight of fruit and long length. A beautifully balanced, mouthfilling and elegant Pinot Gris. 

Drink with white meats, fish cooked in a creamy sauce or goat’s cheese.

Less than 300 cases were produced. Drink now – 2033

Marc Tempé is the most unassuming, down to earth chap but his wines are out of this world! They are wines of amazing aromatic complexity and minerality which beautifully express their grape and terroir. Marc is surely one of the most talented winemakers in Alsace, so it is a huge shame that he has decided to sell his winery this year because his children do not want to move into the business.

“The Tempés make spellbindingly beautiful biodynamic wines, but (devastatingly) they are packing up – their kids don’t want to take over the business and it’s getting to the point where the intense physical labour of their work is taking its toll.
