Desvignes Morgon Cote Du Py Cuvée Javernières Aux Pierres – 2022

From 90 year old vines planted on a mix of clay, slate and volcanic soils in a tiny “lieu-dit” of Morgon Javernières, this superb Beaujolais is packed with deep, dense dark cherry fruit flavours. Vinified using 50% whole bunches and matured for 10 months in large concrete eggs, it has silky smooth tannins and a refreshing bite of salty acidity to give freshness and balance. 14.5% alcohol (which for a Beaujolais is quite remarkable!) A serious wine with long ageing potential.
