Desvignes Morgon Cote Du Py Cuvée Javernières Les Impenitents – 2022

This wonderful, dense and concentrated “super-Beaujolais” comes from a tiny (0.86hectares) parcel of 109 year old Gamay vines grown on iron and clay soils in Javernières. Despite the concentration of the dark cherry fruit, it has great purity and finesse and “only” (for this hot vintage) 13.5% alcohol. This is an exceptional Beaujolais of the very highest quality which will develop in bottle over at least 15 years.

On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and laced with succulent acids and fine wispy tannins, opening to reveal a layered mid-palate complex with flavor. It has a subtle tension that binds the flesh seamlessly with its structural components. The wine is long on the palate with a persistence of flavor that elegantly fades out on the finish.
