The organic-certified Terenzuola family winery produce delicious Vermentino-based white and red wines in the Colli di Luni wine region on the border of Tuscany and Liguria, about 5kms from the Mediterranean Sea just south of the Cinque Terre. These are wines of freshness and elegance which have a surprisingly capacity to develop in complexity over several years in bottle.
Pini di Corsano is the winery’s top bottling of Vermentino, produced in tiny quantities from the best part of their Fosso di Corsano vineyard. It is dry with complex, floral aromas and flavours of lime and honey blossom. Broad and mouthfilling on the palate but with remarkable tension, excellent balance and real finesse. I have never tasted a Vermentino of this quality before!
Only 600bts were produced.
This wine received 3 Bicchiere from the Gambero Rosso 2023, who “appreciated its balance, rich fruit, iodine sensations and whiffs of Mediterranean herbs – a drink of extraordinary freshness and great personality.”
“Pale greeny gold. Outstanding aromatic intensity: lime, fresh cedar, a touch of kerosene (in a good way), smoky and mineral. A real spectrum of complex aromas. On the palate, powerful, firmly textured by definite tannins, which provide a counterpoint to the powerful and broad flavours. Great balancing acidity. Highly distinctive wine: structured, deep, multi-layered and long. Absolutely cries out for food and yet has deep fruit as its foundation so it is not hard to drink it on its own, even though it is so intense. Small sips are best.” 17.5/20pts jancisrobinson.com
