Domaine Fabrice Gasnier Chinon Blanc Le Coteau du Sonnay – 2021

This small, organic and biodynamic-certified family domaine is one of the rising stars of Cabernet Franc production in the Loire Valley, situated just outside Chinon in the sleepy village of Cravant les Coteaux. They also produce this delicious Chenin Blanc – one of the best quality white wines from the Chinon appellation.
The grapes are hand-picked then wild-fermented. The wine then spends 12 months in large, old oak casks on its lees gaining weight, flavour and complexity before being bottled.
From the cool and fresh 2021 vintage in the Loire Valley, this dry white wine has impressive weight of stone fruit and white flower flavours, perfectly balanced acidity and a lovely smooth texture/mouthfeel. It would be a perfect companion to scallops cooked in butter or poultry cooked in a creamy, mushroom sauce.
