Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon Margaret River, West Australia – 2012
2012 was a very good growing season in Margaret River, and this is without doubt one of the finest Cabernets Moss Wood have produced.
The wine is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon with 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. It has a vibrant nose, with violets, raspberries, mulberries and redcurrants jumping out of the glass, but classic notes of leather, earth, cedar and tar underneath.
Generous mulberry and redcurrant flavours fill the palate and they sit over quite a firm tannic structure, giving the wine good weight and length.
This has the potential to develop and improve in bottle over 20 years, but with its deliciously attractive fruit is already drinking well now – the beauty of Margaret River Cabernets!
