Terenzuola – Colli di Luni

The organic-certified Terenzuola family winery produce delicious Vermentino-based white and red wines in the Colli di Luni wine region of Liguria, about 5 minutes drive from the Mediterranean Sea between the Cinque Terre and the marble-formed Apuan Alps near Carrara.

Winemaker Ivan Giuliani grew up near Lago Maggiore, but all his holidays were spent near the sea in the beautiful Colli di Luni region. In 1993 he took over his grandfather’s wine estate in the area surrounding Fosdinovo, and has worked these hillside vineyards organically ever since. His great value Colli Basse Vermentino grows on sand and gravel soils at the foot of the hill, whilst near the top, at about 400mts altitude, the family produce their amazing “Fosso di Corsano” Vermentino. Fosso di Corsano and Pino di Corsano come from a 5 hectare amphitheatre of vines planted on sandstone and limestone soils. In this “natural terrace” the sunlight and constant breeze allow their grapes to ripen late into October. This gives the Vermentino here wonderful longevity, acidity and elegance; these wines can evolve and build in complexity for over a decade!
