The organic-certified Terenzuola family winery produce delicious Vermentino-based white and red wines in the Colli di Luni wine region on the border of Tuscany and Liguria, about 5kms from the Mediterranean Sea just south of the Cinque Terre. These are wines of freshness and elegance which have a surprisingly capacity to develop in complexity over a few years in bottle.
Their Terre Basse Vermentino is grown on sand and gravel soils at around 150mts altitude at the foot of the Fosdinovo hill. This fresh and fruity white is bursting with white peach and grapefruit flavours and has fresh, vibrant acidity from the fairly cool 2024 vintage. It would be fabulous as a summer apero or even better with a dish of spaghetti alle vongole! A good value introduction to this producer’s wines!
“Includes 5% Albarola. On lees 4 months. 2024 was a cooler vintage than 2023. Certified organic.
Open and scented with stony citrus – an impression of crushed seashells – and fresh herbs, marked by salty freshness. Likewise on the palate, this is mostly lemon and grapefruit with mouth-watering freshness and less of the orchard fruits of the 2023. Still recognisably Vermentino with a gentle but definite texture and a lingering salty-fresh finish.” 17/20 Julia Harding MW for jancisrobinson.com
