“This superb Clos de Vougeot from Méo-Camuzet has ravishing ripe blackberry fruit aromas with hints of rose petals and liquorice. The texture is silky yet firmly tannic, and enlivened by surprisingly fresh acidity. This cuvée is from Méo’s vines near the château in the section called ‘La Garenne’ in thin soils (60-80 cm) over limestone. In some vintages Méo blended his parcels together; when they were separate, this was bottled as Près du Cellier, but he is not sure what it will be called in 2023.” 97/100pts Decanter
“There are three ha here, primarily around the château. Bushels of red and black cherries doused with spice squeeze into the cram packed palate. While exuberantly ripe with velvety tannins, the fruit has perky lift to keep everything aligned. Haunting layers of sweet oak spice from the 80% new oak stand out as the fruit fades on the finish but should continue to fold in nicely in the next few years.” 95/100pts Tim Atkin MW
