Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay Auckland – 2022

Kumeu River Chardonnay is drawn from six different vineyard sites in the Kumeu Region. They are particularly careful to select only the very best grapes from these vineyards for their Estate label. This wine consistently offers excellent quality, albeit with just a little less new oak and fruit intensity than Mate’s Chardonnay, at a very fair price.

“This is Kumeu River’s calling card. Made from a selection of six different sites of which they own four. Whole-bunch pressed and barrel-fermented (20% new). Vines planted from 1989 to 2005. 

Some real richness on the nose. Then a green streak. Very fine texture! With Puligny savour and lift. Creamy yet fresh. Bullseye for the style. Good light grip on the end. Convincing. Good Value. 13%. Drink 2023 – 2028″. 16.5+/20pts  Jancis Robinson MW
