Kelley Fox Carter Vineyard Pinot Noir Willamette Valley, Oregon – 2021

Kelley Fox is one of the wine world’s unsung heroes. She makes beautifully balanced, fragrantly-fruited Pinot Noirs in miniscule quantities from her biodynamically-tended vineyards in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.  For me there are few better Pinot Noir producers than her in the USA.

2019 was Kelley’s first bottling from the organically-farmed Carter Vineyard. The vines were planted on their own roots back in 1983. 

“The 2021 is a transparent, deep red that is youthful with blue notes. The lush, fresh nose has rich red fruits, subtle spices, and minerals. In the mouth there is a powerful presence- a stillness- a restraint and a waiting-that is weightless. It’s full of strawberries and other berries (like Marionberries).
