Kalleske Moppa Shiraz Barossa Valley – 2023

Kalleske are one of Australia’s leading organic and biodynamic producers. Brothers Troy and Tony are the 7th generation of this winemaking family who have been making wine in the Moppa sub district of Barossa continually since 1853.
2023 was an excellent quality vintage in the Barossa. Their Moppa Shiraz is a blend of 90% Shiraz, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Viognier from vines dating back to 1961.
On the nose this has attractive aromas of dark, blue fruits, sweet spices and a floral lift, with just a hint of toasty oak.
The palate is rich and full-bodied with a beautiful mesh of ripe, blue and black fruit, spice and gentle coconut and vanilla flavours. Firm but perfectly rounded tannins give a solid backbone and good structure. This mouthfilling Shiraz is never overpowering and retains a pleasant bite spicy acidity from its old vines.
