The northerly Loire Valley is cool climate so requires special sites to ripen Chenin Blanc grapes perfectly. These grapes were grown on the warmest, south-facing slopes north of the Loire river, on the famous flinty “Silex” soils of this area, giving the wine a distinct stoney, flinty minerality and the ability to age for several years.

With its fresh acidity, considerable complexity, and seamlessly integrated dark raspberry fruit and vanilla oak from 3 years’maturation in French oak barrels, this Crianza is a fabulous mix of modern and traditional Rioja winemaking at a very reasonable price.

2009 vintage in McLaren Vale was relatively cool, and the Grenache particularly was a great success, giving wonderful purity and freshness of fruit flavours.
